Founded in 1994, the Milwaukee Children's Choir (MCC) is a non-profit professional children's choral organization that is comprised of over 200, K-12, students from throughout the Greater Milwaukee area.

Milwaukee Children's Choir Mission:

"To give children exceptional choral music instruction and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression and social growth."

MCC seeks several experienced professional children's choral directors to join our staff as Associate Music Directors. We are seeking individuals who are experienced in working with children in 3rd-8th grades. Conductors may direct more than one choir if they choose. Possible Choirs: Milwaukee Girlchoir West (3rd-4th graders), Milwaukee Boychoir East (3rd-4th graders), Resident Choir East (5th-8th graders) and Resident Choir West (5th-8th graders).

Responsibilities Include:

Selection of choral repertoire for assigned choir(s).
Coordination with Artistic Director and other Administrative staff to develop coordinate performances
Recruitment/Sustainment of Choirs
Conduct Assigned Choir
Conduct approximately 4-6 performances per year (possibly more depending on choir’s schedule)
Maintain regular communication with rehearsal assistances, parents, and MCC staff
Work with Artistic Director in order to build MCC and maintain its strong music education curriculum
Coordinates/Directs Choir Tour(s) and/or Runout(s) and Retreat(s)
Reports Directly to the Artistic Director

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Music (Master's preferable)
Experience in Children's Choral Directing and Knowledge of Repertoire appropriate for a professional children's choral ensemble
Knowledge of Classroom Management
Must possess vocal, conducting and basic keyboard skills as well as good organizational skills
Must possess an eagerness to work in collaboration with the MCC staff and board toward growing MCC and our local and national reputation for choral music education excellence

To apply, send cover letter, resume/CV, 3-5 references, and a sample mock concert program for a treble choir of 3rd-4th grade students. Please write a small description of why you have chosen each piece for these mock concerts. Each mock program should consist of enough music to last 30 minutes in length. If possible, please also submit a video recording of a live performance and/or rehearsal that you conducted (audio recordings will be accepted if video recordings aren't available). This recording may be submitted as a YouTube link or sent on DVD/CD.
