Posted: June 17, 2013
Location: New York, USA
Choir type: Children's and Youth Choirs
From almost halfway around the world, the Young Voices of Melbourne (Australia) led by Director Mark O’Leary will join the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and its Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez in an exciting intermingling of Australian and American cultures in YPC’s June 30 Transmusica concert at the 92nd Street Y. YPC’s Transmusica series crosses cultures and transforms musical perceptions, while building bridges to other world cultures and communities. This concert is the first stop on YVM’s six-city tour, which includes San Francisco; Disneyland in Anaheim; the Idaho International Choral Festival in Pocotello, Idaho; Yellowstone National Park, and the International Choral Festival in Missoula, Montana. The June 30 program, which features such favorites from down under as Botany Bay and Waltzing Matilda, will also be an exciting preview of the tour program the YPC choristers are taking to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and five cities in Japan this summer, including Tokyo, where they will make their Tokyo Philharmonic debut. Tickets for Transmusica are $15 for adults and $5 for those under 18 and are available at the 92nd Street Y box office or by calling 212-415-5500.
