The Clarence W. Miller Dedication/Scholarship Concert will be held on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 8 PM
in Glassboro, New Jersey, at Rowan University, Wilson Hall. The Pfleeger Concert Hall will provide the setting for unveiling the dedication plaque to name Rehearsal Room #153 in honor of Clarence Miller's 36 years of service to Glassboro State College/Rowan University and to the generations of his well-trained students who have spent their lives practicing choral art and singing.
More than 200 voices will fill Pfleeger Concert Hall to celebrate Miller as the co-founder of the Music Department, founder of the auditioned Concert Choir, the Community Chorus and the New Jersey American Choral Directors Association; serving as the first and seventh president.
The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) selected Miller to conduct at the ACDA National Conference four times; 1963,1973,1976 and 1992. He was one of four conductors who prepared a 200 voice choir representing 50 states for the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration at Interlocken Music Camp, Michigan which premiered Lukas Foss' commissioned work, American Cantata. He was recipient of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Humanitarian Award in 1983.
