High School repertoire for the new school year

Hi All:

Looking for new high school repertoire for the new school year.  Small diverse choir of 35 students.  Meets daily plus one lesson period a week.  Looking for that one song to open the school year with to hook them.  Last year opened with For The Beauty Of The Earth by John Rutter and Sicut Locutus Est (Bach) - taught with solfege and they loved it.  They can sing a level four or five from the New York State (NYSSMA) manual.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Jim

Hi, Jim. I don't think the piece I'm sending you is a good year-opener for your chorus, but I'm sending it to you on the chance that you might need it as Martin Luther King's birthday approaches in January.
Best of luck with the choir this year.
