Letters themed concert-- need help!

My colleague and I are doing a "letters" themed concert early this November. For examples-- our Treble Choir is doing the piece "Dear John, Dear John," and the A Cappella Choir is doing "I Love My Love."  We are in need of a SAB (or easy SATB) piece for our Concert Choir (primarily freshman and beginner singers). I have found several pieces with "love-song" texts which could be interpreted as love letters, but haven't been able to find any other pieces with actual letters as their texts...... Any ideas???

A-Tisket A-tasket; several good arrangements of this old tune

Yours, Yours, Yours, from the musical 1776

Avner Dorman. "Letters from Gettysburg"

You could probably make a case for songs from "Spoon River Anthology," which several composers have set.

Hi Rachel,

An intriguing concert theme! I've set part of Abigail Adams' famous letter to her husband John, admonishing him to "Remember the Ladies"  as he helped to write the US Constitution.  It's published by Boosey & Hawkes in their In High Voice series, and distributed by Hal Leonard.  Here's the link:

Best of luck with your search,

Mornin'!

I have a great TTB suggestion if you decide to go that route.  Let me know if you do - at jreesenorris(a)yahoo.com

Hi Rachel,
I have a SATB piece you might be interested in for your concert choir called "Nature's Beauty."  The text actually comes from a Beethoven letter in a lovely English translation.
I would be happy to send you a score and recording if it sounds intriguing.

How about Sigh No More Ladies. It was paired with 2 more love songs.

James Syler's "Dear Sarah" (Santa Barbara Music - sbmp.com) is a wonderful piece, but it was a challenge for a college choir, definitely not easy SATB.

Has anyone arranged Elvis' "Return to Sender"?  I can almost hear it in 3- or 4-part harmony.  Could be a hoot.

And there's always Alan Sherman's "A Letter from Camp".  Or maybe not.

Oops, completely forgot the Beatle's "Please, Mr. Postman" as an opener.

If you could go with a song "about letters" (like the Elvis and Beatles suggestions) there must be a school/SAB arrangement of "Writing Love Letters in the Sand".
