Music in a Great Space Concert Series Presents the Junior Mendelssohn Choir and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra
Music in a Great Space, the concert series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, presents the Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra in concert, featuring Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem, on Sunday, November 24, at 4:00 p.m.
Conducted by Junior Mendelssohn Music Director Susan Medley, the choir will be accompanied by members of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) for its performance of Mozart’s Requiem. The program also will include separate performances from each group. In addition, PYSO Music Director Lawrence Loh and PSO Assistant Conductor Fawzi Haimor will conduct.
These two local organizations provide educational and performance opportunities for young musicians in the Pittsburgh region. The Junior Mendelssohn Choir is comprised of choristers in eighth through twelfth grade. The PYSO has enjoyed an affiliation with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since 1962.

Shadyside Presbyterian Church is centrally located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s university district, just a few blocks away from the campuses of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. The church is situated on the corner of Amberson Avenue and Westminster Place, only one block off Fifth Avenue.
