The Hinsdale Chorale, under the direction of Alan Wellman, will perform its annual Holiday Concert Featuring Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at 4:00pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 139 E. First Street, Hinsdale IL.
In addition to performing a set of holiday-inspired pieces, this concert marks the twelfth year that Hinsdale Chorale has launched the holiday season for the western suburbs with a performance of selections from Handel’s Messiah including several sing along choruses. This baroque favorite will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra and harpsichord featuring professional musicians from throughout the Chicagoland area. In addition, we welcome several vocal soloists who are making their debut performances with Hinsdale Chorale.
Celeste Martino, soprano from Western Springs, is delighted to be making her debut with Hinsdale Chorale. She has sung as soloist in numerous professional performances throughout the United States and Europe. Recently, Celeste debuted with the Downers Grove Choral Society and has also appeared annually with Sinfonietta Bel Canto in addition to being an active performer in Hinsdale and Western Springs Music Club programs.
Hinsdale resident and frequent Hinsdale Chorale ensemble member and soloist, Jane Moyer, has sung professionally for many years. She also enjoys arranging music and accompanying herself on various instruments, including folk harp. Jane was one of the early members of the Hinsdale Chorale and holds a degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Michigan State University.
Making his Hinsdale Chorale debut as tenor soloist, Justin Dunkle is originally from Greencastle, Pennsylvania and obtained a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory in 2010 and plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Opera Vocal Performance in the fall of 2014. Justin resides in Wheaton and also sings with the St. Charles Singers, Elgin Choral Union, and Palos Park Presbyterian Community Church Chancel Choir.
Baritone, Jeffrey Fahey, is a Minnesota native who is making his Hinsdale Chorale debut and also sings with the Chicago Choral Artists in addition to the Chancel Choir of Our Lady of Victory Church in Chicago, where he also directs the Contemporary Choir. He has worked with various theatres across the Chicago area including Light Opera Works and with Music by the Lake in Lake Geneva, WI. In addition to performing, he is a music teacher for the UNO Charter School Network.
Kathy Christian continues to delight audiences as the chorale’s accompanist. Joining shortly after the choir’s inception in 1999, Mrs. Christian is a member of the music faculty at North Central College in Naperville and is very active as organist at First Congregational Church in Western Springs.
