Conducting Masterclass with Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada
The Student Chapter of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities invites you to apply to one of two Conducting Master Classes with Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt and the National Youth Choir during Podium 2014 in Halifax, NS!

Master Class #1: Conducting techniques for full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Applicants must not be older than 30 years of age as of 1 May 2014.

Master Class #2: Conducting techniques for early-career teachers working with choirs of various levels of experience and make-up.

Using one piece of music well known to the ensemble and one less well known, both chosen by the NYC conductor, the master class conductors will engage with the group under the guidance of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt.  A maximum of six conductors will be selected for each master class.  Conductors will have 15 – 20 minutes to work with the ensemble.  Each session will close with a summary/Q & A component during which observers may interact with the clinician and conductors.

All applicants must submit the following materials online by 15 January 2014. Please indicate for which master class you wish to apply on your application. Applications received after this date will not be accepted. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by 1 March 2014.

1.) Résumé outlining all relevant choral conducting education and experience (in PDF format)

2.) List of the repertoire conducted over the past 2-3 years (in PDF format)

3.) Video footage showing 10-15 minutes of the candidate in rehearsal.
