C4 Choral Composer/Conductor Collective Presents Heritage - First Concerts of 2013-14 Season on November 21 in Manhattan and November 23 in Brooklyn
C4 Choral Composer/Conductor Collective will present Heritage, the first concerts of its Innovate/Elevate 2013-14 New York season on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 8:00 PM at Church of the Transfiguration, 1 East 29th Street in Manhattan and Saturday, November 23 at 8:00 PM at Duffy Performance Space at Mark Morris Dance Center, 3 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn.
Heritage explores how folk traditions continue to in?uence new music. Featured works are Judith Bingham’s A Bird is Singing, Brent Michael Davids’ The Un-Covered Wagon, Steven Stucky’s Lulaj?e, Jezuniu from Cradle Songs, and the World Premiere of (C4 composer) Karen Siegel’s Shirei Shira. Other composers on the program are Emma Lou Diemer, C.A. Pinto Fonseca, Ester Mägi and Ethan Sperry. C4 composers Jonathan David, Joseph Rubinstein, and Bettina Sheppard are also showcased. C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective exists to enrich artists and audiences alike through passionate advocacy of new choral works: performing pieces written within the last 25 years; premiering and commissioning new choral work; and mentoring emerging singers, composers, and conductors of today’s choral music. C4’s adventurous programming ?lls an important niche in the cultural life of New York, and the ensemble has proven its commitment to presenting high caliber music in a welcoming atmosphere.
