Ave Maria (SATB, a cappella) – a new setting – free

Language: Latin. Standard of difficulty: fairly easy. Duration: circa 1½ minutes. No divisi. No extreme ranges. One page. Mildly modern – won't frighten the horses!

I wrote this with the aim of presenting the prayer with as much clarity as possible. To that end, I've set the text phrase by phrase rather than as deconstructed fragments.

Here's a multitrack recording by Matthew Curtis.

To date, this has only been sung here in Australia. Please email me for a PDF of the score – this may be used for performances free of charge.

I'd like to get a copy of that for our HS Chorale here in Michigan, always looking for fairly easy 4-part to teach for warm-ups and/or performances.

Your arrangement is beautiful.  Thank-you for sharing such a beautiful gift.  I would love to get a copy of it and perform it with my choir here in Milwaukee, WI.

Really beautiful, David!  I Wish I had a choir to perform it.  Congratulations to you and all the more reason to have Matthew Curtis do a recording of new works to put out into the world!

Thank you for your wonderful responses.

Can I just mention: I can't attach PDFs to messages sent within ChoralNet (as far as I'm aware). Attachments need to go to an email address.

I've also had some success attaching PDFs to Facebook messages, although I'm not sure if this only works for "friends".

ps – In the reasonably near future I'll be endeavouring to post items in the Community Composition Showcase. Might be a couple of weeks though due to workload.

As requested, I've posted a video on YouTube with the score laid out line-by-line.

BTW, if anyone wishes to post his/her own recording on YouTube, SoundCloud or wherever, please feel free to do so. Let me know and I'll link to it.

Cheers – DB
