8th International A Cappella Contest, GERMANY Deadline soon!
Event Date: May 15, 2014-May 18, 2014
Posted: January 2, 2014
There is a wonderful opportunity for small a cappella ensembles (any style of a cappella - early, contemporary, "classical," jazz, etc). The German ensemble, Amarcord, is holding their 8th Annual International A Cappella Contest, May 15-18, 2014, in Leipzig, Germany. The number of members in the ensembles allowed to compete are from 3 to 8, and the maximum overall average age of the group must not be higher than 28. The ensembles that are selected to compete will also take part in the workshop and seminar. This amateur contest has been set within the International A Cappella Festival which runs for about 10-14 days involving performances by professional ensembles including - (in years past) The King's Singers, Take 6, Anonymous 4, Orlando Consort, M-Pact, The Real Group, Huun Huur Tu, and more - as well of course as the hosting ensemble, Amarcord! Among the professional artists in this year's festival will be Bobby McFerrin and the Hilliard Ensemble.
This truly is a fantastic festival in which the ensembles learn and interact with other international groups, during the competition.
The deadline for submisions is the end of January, so please act fast and/or spread the word to other small a cappella groups who may be interested.
Please feel free to contact me for the flyer or with any questions. Also, please see the link below for more information.
All best wishes in the New Year!
