The Unity Community Choir with over sixty singers will present Handel's Messiah Part I plus the Hallelujah Chorus and Worthy is the Lamb on Sunday, January 26 at 4:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 111 Ryerson Avenue, Newton, New Jersey. Henry Repp will direct as well as accompany on the three-manual Peragallo pipe organ.
Soprano soloist will be Molly Young who sings at the National Cathedral in Washington as well as the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Her father, Rev. David Young, pastor of Newton Presbyterian Church, will be the bass soloist. He holds a master of music degree in vocal performance from the University of Maryland. Kathleen and John Meredith, a husband and wife team, are both graduates of Oberlin Conservatory of Music and will be the alto and tenor soloists.
Organist/ Director Henry Repp is well-known for his role in accompanying numerous oratorios in the tri-state region. The church is handicapped accessible and has ample parking. There will be a free-will offering and a reception will follow the conccert. The snow date is February 2 at 4:30 p.m.
