Help with Goza mi calipso by Albert Hernandez

My choir is preparing this piece.  There is a part of the text missing on page 9.  At first I thought there was a misprint in the music but when I went to the Hinshaw website and listened to the recording they have, there is clearly a second text that is sung by altos and basses that is not printed.
this occurs in the score on page 9. m. 55-56.  There are five pitches.  I can tell that the last three are the word Car-na-val but I cannot be sure what is said on the first two notes.  It sounds like ve-ne, or be-ne.  Does anyone know what is correct here and what it means?
