Location: New Jersey, USA
The Rutgers University Glee Club will be hosting the Centennial National Seminar for Intercollegiate Men's Choruses, Inc. from March 6-8, 2014 in the beautiful Nicholas Music Center on the Rutgers Douglass Campus in New Brunswick, NJ.
Our biennial National Seminars are unparalleled opportunities to hear more than a dozen men's choruses, network with other conductors and singers, and attend interest and reading sessions specifically designed for men's chorus musicians.
This Seminar will feature performances by Glee Clubs from Harvard, Rutgers, Miami of Ohio, Penn State, the University of Illinois, the University of Virginia, Morehouse, Ohio State, and Grand Valley State, along with performances by high school and adult men's choruses, including the Washington Men's Camerata, the University Glee Club of New York, and Measure for Measure.
Dr. Jameson Marvin, conductor emeritus of the Harvard Glee Club, will present a session entitled Polyphony - rehearsal techniques to goose the elephants!, Dion Ritten will run a reading session on European repertoire, Christopher Kiver of Penn State will present a choral reading session of new works by composers from New Zealand and Australia, and David Morrow of Morehouse College will present on African American music.
Another highlight of the Seminar will be a performance of Stravinsky's rarely-performed masterpiece, Oedipus Rex, with the Rutgers University Glee Club, the men of the Kirkpatrick Choir, the Rutgers University Symphony, and Metropolitan Opera Mezzo-Soprano Jennifer Rivera, all under the direction of Seminar host Dr. Patrick Gardner.
