ECMC is proud to welcome The University of Pittsburgh Men’s Glee Club and Music Director Richard Teaster as they celebrate their 125th Anniversary. Founded in 1890 with 8 members, Pitt Men’s Glee Club now boasts 82 members, and is considered one of the top men’s collegiate choral ensembles in the nation.
The Pitt Glee Club will be performing a selection of works by Handl, Liszt, Hummel, Moses Hogan and Harold Arlen as well as some folk song settings from Ireland and Germany.
The Empire City Men's Chorus will be performing selections from their eclectic repertoire including works from the Armenian choral tradition, a new setting or poetry by the Persian poet, Rumi, and famous quotations from Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson set by American composers Mark Hayes and Randall Thompson.
Then the two male choruses will unite together to sing such beautiful works as the Irish Blessing and Biebl's Ave Maria.
