Friends of Music and the Arts at St. Andrew's (FoMA) present The Potomac Ensemble, a newly-formed group of some of the D.C. area's finest professional singers, in a program of choral works for five-part choir, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 6509 Sydenstricker Road, Burke, Virginia, on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. The program will open with the famous Miserere mei, Deus, by Gregorio Allegri, and will include Justorum animae by William Byrd, Ave verum corpus by Peter Philips, Remember not, Lord, our offenses by Henry Purcell, Pseaume 137 by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Die mit Tränen Säen by Johann Hermann Schein, and Tristis est anima mea by Johann Kuhnau. The program will feature two new works, the premiere of Jay Wilcox's O sacrum convivium, and the East Coast premiere of Craig Phillips' O viridissima virga. Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582, for organ will be followed by his magnificent motet, Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227. The free-will offering will go to support FoMA. Free child-care will be available. A reception will follow the concert.
