Surprised by Joy | Bach Cantatas for Eastertide

PACIFIC BACH PROJECT Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus

Richard Westerfield, conducting

The "Great Fifty Days" from Easter to Pentecost inspired some of Bach's most beautiful church music. From the thrilling Easter Oratorio to the joyful and ebullient cantatas for Ascension Day and Pentecost, Bach's music for this period consistently brims over with joy and inspiration.

Let the baroque orchestra and professional choristers of the Pacific Bach Project take you on a guided tour of the whirlwind events of those first fifty days, with glorious music from the Kantatenwerk as well as the ever popular "Pentecost" Brandenburg Concerto no. 3. Vibrant period instruments and insightfulcommentary help bring Bach's music to life in a fresh and exciting way for everyone.

Free refreshments will be served following the performance. Parking is free.
