Cordus Mundi CD Release Party/Concert

Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Voicing: Men
Bucks County-based male a cappella group Cordus Mundi has announced the release of their first compact disc recording, Tracks, recorded live during November, 2013 concerts in Gwynedd and Doylestown, PA. The group will be officially introducing the recording at a CD release party and concert, to be held at the New Hope Arts Center, 2 Stockton Ave. in New Hope on Saturday evening, April 5, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Co-sponsored by charitable organization YandO, the event includes a Cordus Mundi concert with repertoire drawn from the new CD and from recent performances, pre & post-concert receptions with Cordus Mundi members, and the opportunity to hear the CD. Pre-concert reception festivities begin at 7:00 p.m., the concert starts at 7:30 p.m., and the party will continue after the conclusion of the concert.

Tracks presents a cross-section of Cordus Mundi repertoire, and includes well-known concert favorites as well as previously unheard pieces from new composers. Says Cordus Mundi artistic director/founder Rick Rosen, “With our CD, we’ve taken the same approach that we take in concert – you get music from several eras, in a variety of musical styles, with a wide range of emotion.”

Tracks includes music from Cordus Mundi composer favorites including Alice Parker, Pablo Casals, Pavel Tschesnokoff, John Dowland, Kurt Bestor, Francis Poulenc, Moses Hogan and more, as well as pieces from newer composers including Scott Perkins, Jocelyn Hagen, Eric William Barnum, Rick Rosen, and Gregory Brown.

Funding for Cordus Mundi’s CD project was attained largely via the Kickstarter online crowd-funding platform and the support of numerous project backers. In utilizing the Kickstarter platform, Cordus Mundi was able offer potential backers the ability to fund the project at a variety of support levels in exchange for appropriate Cordus Mundi rewards packages. The Cordus Mundi CD project was ultimately funded by a group of over sixty backers.

“This CD has been a long time coming and we’re thrilled to have turned it into a reality,” comments Rosen. “The timing was right, the group was ready, the support was there, and the music sounds pretty darn good – can’t ask for much more than that.”

YandO sponsors a number of projects in local communities for the elderly and needy.   Recent contributions have been made to Domus, True Colors, Abilis, Open Door and local senior centers. “Understanding the profound power of music as a bright and inspiring light in what can be an otherwise dreary day, YandO is excited to team up with Cordus Mundi”, says YandO co-founder Erik Nergaard. “The music on the new CD appeals to people of all ages and from all walks of life and will unquestionably be a source of comfort and joy to many, many people.  YandO hopes its involvement will help spread the word of the new CD to as wide an audience as possible, knowing that these songs will speak to many hearts.”

Cordus Mundi’s CD Tracks is available for $15 + shipping & handling. Two pricing options are offered for the April 5 CD release party/concert – attendees can buy a concert ticket for $15 or they are invited to purchase a concert ticket/CD package for the one-time special price of $25.
