Voices In Harmony Presents: Season of Passion - Hope Eternal

Location: Illinois, USA
Choir type: Community Choirs
Voicing: Mixed

Voices In Harmony presents Hope Eternal, the third concert in this year's Season of Passion.  The concert will be presented on Sunday, April 13, 2014, 4:00 PM, at the Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.  VIH offers music that looks to a brighter day, full of joy, humor and a confident, enduring peace.

The program opens with a spirited a cappella setting of the poem by Emily Dickinson, “Hope is the thing with feathers” by Kenny Potter.  It continues with two works by Benjamin Britten: Festival Te Deum, Op 32 and Rejoice in the Lamb, Op 30. The second half of the program features music by Maurice Duruflé, including two a cappella motets, Ubi Caritas and Tu Es Petrus, an organ solo, Prélude et fugue sur le nom d’Alain, op. 7, and his serenely beautiful Requiem, Op 9. The two Britten works and two by Duruflé will be accompanied on the Rodgers Infinity 361 Digital Organ, which will be installed in the Raue just for this concert.  This magnificent instrument is a 61-stop, three-manual, five division concert instrument with a sound that will amaze! For more information about this concert or the Rodgers Organ, please see the VIH web site.

At this concert, VIH will spotlight Home of the Sparrow, a shelter for homeless women and children, one of the many local organizations that provide hope for those who desperately need it.

Tickets are $18 general admission, $15 for students and seniors; children 12 and under are free with a paying adult; group rates are available.  Tickets are available from the Raue Center Box Office, (815) 356-9212, or online at
