CoroAllegro presents "In the Beginning"
Date: March 30, 2014
Location: Delaware, USA
Choir type: Chamber Choirs and Vocal Ensembles
“In the Beginning,” Aaron Copland’s lyrical setting of the Genesis creation story, sets the tone for CoroAllegro’s exploration of themes of origin, continuity, and transformation. Works by Victoria, Howells, Duruflé and contemporary English composer Gabriel Jackson offer diverse and eloquent portrayals of creation and renewal. Two gifted young area musicians will join CoroAllegro as guest artists: mezzo soprano Zerrin Martin for the Copland, and organist Thomas Sheehan for Jackson’s “In the beginning was the Word.”
This will also be Jack Warren Burnam’s final concert, after twenty-seven years, as Music Director of CoroAllegro.
Please join us as CoroAllegro acknowledges the end of this era and enters a new phase of renewal and transformation.
