To the Glory of God

~~On Sunday afternoon May 4, 3 PM, Westchester  Oratorio Society, Benjamin Niemczyk, conductor, will present a concert entitled, “To the Glory of Spring,” accompanied by the acclaimed REBEL Baroque Ensemble on period instruments. The performance which will be held at the South Salem Presbyterian Church features three choral works: Vivaldi, “Gloria," Haydn "Kleine Orgelmesse” and Bach “Hallelujah BWV 143.”
 
Soloist will be Miriam Chaudoir, soprano and Corrine Byrne, soprano and countertenor Biraj Barkakaty.

REBEL will also perform three instrumental pieces, Vivaldi "Concerto per archi in g minor RV 156,” Bach, “Concerto for Oboe d’amore after BWV 1055" and Hasse "Fuga & Grave in g minor.”

A pre-concert talk will be given by John Moran, musicologist (Ph.D., King's College, London) and REBEL baroque cellist and viola da gamba. player, from  2 pm to 2:30 pm, free to ticket holders.  Mr. Moran specializes in the historically informed performance of music and teaches at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.
