Looking for Alto and Bass section leader for 2014-2015. Season runs August until June. Wide range of musical styles with main focus on chamber a cappella style. Applicants will be auditioned throughout the summer until the position is filled.
  • Musical background, choral experience. Students pursuing vocal degree are welcome, as our other paid section leaders are current vocal performance majors.
  • Superior sight-reading and aural skills are necessary. Ability to learn music quickly is preferred.
  • Singers must have the ability to learn music on their own because of the expectation that they will learn and prepare music each week before rehearsal.
  • Flexibility in style utilizing traditional/classical (oratorio, chamber, choral, etc.) in solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble capacities.
  • The ideal candidate will have passion for Christ, for fellowship with other Christians, and for leading His church in the Catholic liturgy. In essence, we are looking for a worship leader, not simply a skilled vocalist. In addition, choral scholars will be team players in all musical groups and section leaders in the choir.
  • Candidate will respect and honor the Catholic liturgy, although being Catholic is not required. Several of our paid section leaders are not members of the Catholic church.
  • Experience as a cantor is a plus.
  • Workload of Choral Scholars
  • Workload will be comprised of 2.5 hours of rehearsal on Wednesday evenings and 2 weekend liturgies (Sundays at 11:00, plus one other - 8:30, 1:00, 5:30, or 5:30 Saturday).
  • Compensation: $75/week
