Virginia Chorale auditioning all voice parts (paid)

Location: Norfolk, Virginia, USA
The Virginia Chorale is a fully professional choir of 18 (ensemble size may vary slightly depending on repertoire - a successful audition does not guarantee an offer to participate in every concert) based in Norfolk, Virginia. Repertoire for the 2014/2015 season includes works by Eric Whitacre, Herbert Howells, James MacMillan, David Lang, Jeffrey Van, Steve Hackman, William Averitt, and Aaron Copland. Rehearsals (5-7 3-hour rehearsals per concert program) take place in Norfolk and performances (2-4 per concert program) take place in Newport News, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and on the Eastern Shore - draft rehearsal and performance schedule is available on request. All interested singers must register using the form on our website.
INDIVIDUAL AUDITIONS (for new singers only) are Sunday, June 8 (in Norfolk), and Monday, June 9 (in Richmond).
ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS (for returning singers AND new singers with a successful individual audition) are Saturday, June 14 (in Norfolk).
  • Singers are hired as independent contractors and are not entitled to receive benefits as employees of the Virginia Chorale.
  • Remuneration will be $20/hour for all rehearsals and $75/performance.
  • Singers driving from outside Hampton Roads for rehearsals and performances may be eligible to receive additional compensation per round-trip drive.
