Bass and Baritone positions for 2014-2015 season
Date: June 11, 2014
Location: Wilmington, Delaware, USA
The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew (SsAM) seeks two professional choral singers, one bass and one baritone for the 2014-2015 season. The singers will serve as part of a group of eight professional singers (The SsAM Choral Scholars) that support the singing of the SsAM Adult Choir. The Choral Scholars also perform periodically as a separate ensemble within the context of liturgy as well as in concert. The music ministry at SsAM includes a wide range of musical styles including Negro Spirituals, World Music, Gospel and Jazz in addition to the full spectrum of classical choral music. The liturgy at SsAM frequently includes sung mass settings, occasionally with instrumental accompaniment.
The ideal candidate will have a solid vocal technique with good sight reading skills. In addition to being able to support choral singing in an Anglican style, the candidate must also be comfortable with the full range of musical styles mentioned above. Occasional solo opportunities may be available. Standard pay is $50 per appearance.
The Adult Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings (7:30-9:30 p.m.) as well as before the 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning service. Additional appearances include Choral Evensongs, Jazz Vespers, Christmas Eve, Holy Week and Easter, and occasional funerals and concerts.
The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew is a uniquely diverse and "radically welcoming" parish in downtown Wilmington with a communion table that is unconditionally open to all.
