Digital Publishing Survey for 10% off all Sheet Music Plus purchases

Hi everyone,
We at Sheet Music Plus are trying to build up our Digital Print Publishing service to meet your needs and interests - there have been some great discussions in this Forum already about the subject. To that end, I've built a survey in order to get to know you and your priorities that I would GREATLY appreciate any responses to. Everyone who completes it gets a 10% discount code for future purchases on Sheet Music Plus!

Thanks for posting this Ryan!
How often do you get asked to help shape services aimed at composers by a representative of a major music distributer?  Spend the 5 minutes it takes to share your thoughts and help improve the product Sheet Music Plus is creating for us!!!!   Those that conduct choirs, you get a 10% discount code to boot!
Don't miss this opportunity.  I did mine.

Took it.
Just want to say that I am so pleased that an option for choral scores was added with the minimum 6 copies and prices as low as 1.99 - that really makes it possible to do choral music on the site. Thanks!

I just completed the survey, but I ran into the same issue as I have found with other such surveys.  I do not sell my music.  So far, I have given permission to anyone who asks and wants to perform any of my compositions.  Several of the questions in the survey dealt with selling or cost, etc.
Am I an anomaly in that I don't sell my music?  Perhaps.  Unfortunately, sometimes people feel that if it's free, it's not as 'good' as something they have to pay for.

I've never charged for mine, either, and I do think there is an unfortunate perception that "free" = "crappy".  I think there are quite a few of us who offer our compositions at no charge (for whatever reason), and would only like to receive a performance recording or honest feedback about the piece in return.  I have considered offering my best work through Sheet Music Plus at the lowest possible price, and may still do so just to see what, if anything, happens.  The performance of one of my pieces ("Butterfly"--SA & String Quartet) by the Simmons College Concert Choir at their spring concert this year gave me hope that I'm not entirely horrible at composing...
As I am a very part-time, non-professional, only-do-it-because-I-love-it composer, I would never offer my work through an outlet that charges any kind of initial "set up" fee (or any other fee besides a reasonable percentage of the selling price) because I believe I would never, ever sell enough copies of anything to recoup that cost.

P.S. I need to close this survey and discount code by 8/1/14, so if anyone's interested, please fill it out before then. Thanks!

Forgive me if I've missed the instructions somewhere, but question #13 in the survey requires a choice of a number within the range of 1-8.  Please tell us how the range works.  For example, does the choice of #1 mean "very important to me" or "not at all important to me"?  Thanks.

Hi Julia
1 = most important, 8 = least important. I've updated it to clarify. Sorry for the confusion!

Think I messed up then, because I had assumed that 8 was the most important!

Hi Ryan,
Yes, Jack's right on- it's rare that composers get a chance to have this kind of input. Congratulations!
I could not get #13 to work for me, but then again I can not wear an expensive wristwatch... When I chose/put a number in, all the other questions assigned themselves sequestial numbers which I could not change, try as I could. #16 did the same thing. Better disregard any questions in which the number sequence runs top to bottom questions neatly from 1 to 8.

No worries, thanks Donald, sorry for the difficulties.

Greetings, I, just yesterday, submitted three compositions to SMP, due in part to the postings here. I find that it will be an extremely valuable service. I am thankful to offer some of my work that may not fit publisher’s catalogues, etc., on SMP. Thank you Ryan for helping us to be actively involved in the industry...
