Choral Section Leader: Soprano, Alto, Tenor & Bass

St. Theresa Roman Catholic Parish, Phoenix, is seeking Section Leaders for the parish choir, which performs during the 11:00 a.m. Mass every week. These positions are available immediately.
Essential Job Functions: Lead the appropriate sections of the choir; assist volunteer choir members in the learning process; promote confidence among the section and the entire choir as a whole; attendance at a weekly rehearsal, every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., is required; attendance at the warm-up rehearsal starting at 10:30 a.m. is required in order to prepare for the 11:00 a.m. liturgy; there are special liturgies throughout the year, in addition to Sunday Masses, which are required, including an Advent program, Christmas Eve Mass at 10:00 p.m. and all of Holy Week and Easter Sunday; other services may arise, with the realization that they may be subject to your availability; compensation is provided by the service performed, namely, rehearsals and Masses. A diocesan training for employees is also required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Formal training in music, ability to sight-read and navigate the musical language; experience in choral singing and fundamentals of ensemble work (as opposed to solo singing); preparedness and organization is necessary; respect for the nature of singing within the atmosphere of a setting sacred to its assembly.
