Indianapolis Men's Chorus

Category: Community Choirs
Voicing: Men
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
Since its founding in 1990, the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus (IMC) has been wowing audiences with its excellent singing and flair for entertainment. With a repertoire that draws upon many styles of music, the volunteer chorus gracefully interprets everything from classical music, spirituals, Broadway and world music, always with agility and panache. Through its concert season and special appearances, the IMC inspires diversity, equality and justice by bringing gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered persons and their allies together through the transformative power of music.

Under the artistic direction of Greg Sanders, the IMC is celebrating its 24th season amid an era of renewed growth. The chorus’s 2013−2014 roster includes more than 60 singers, a four-fold increase since Sanders took the helm two years ago. Ticket sales have more than doubled in that time as the IMC reaches out to wider audiences.

The IMC has become a musical force in its hometown, sharing the stage with local and national artists and performing groups, including:
  • The Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra (alongside Sandy Patti, Gary Beach, and Christina Bianco in the ISO’s Pops Series production of Hello, Dolly! and with Bianco, Ben Crawford, and Ted Keegan in the Symphony on the Prairie production of Broadway Standing Ovations!)
  • The Indianapolis Opera (in its production of The Flying Dutchman)
  • The Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Dance Kaleidoscope
  • Opera and stage artist Jacquelynne Fontaine
  • Folk singer/songwriter Holly Near
  • Cabaret performer Ann Hampton Callaway

In addition to entertaining hometown audiences, the IMC has performed in several cities including Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville, Minneapolis, Saint Louis and Washington, D.C.
