In 1997 he followed in the footsteps of Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells, and was awarded a scholarship at the Royal College of Music in London, England, before returning to Liverpool to study for a bachelor of honours degree in Music and Information Technology. Since August 2003, David has been the Director of Music at Fairfax United Methodist Church, Virginia and at Millian Memorial United Methodist Church, Rockville, Maryland. In 2013, David was appointed Director of Music at Christ Episcopal Church, New Bern, North Carolina.
