~Music Director Job Description
Position Summary - Primary responsibility is to direct and coordinate the music program for both
the traditional and contemporary worship services and reports to Pastor and Worship Committee.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
§ Direct and coordinate the music program for both the traditional and contemporary
§ Conduct weekly praise band rehearsals.
§ Direct praise band at the contemporary worship service every Sunday of the month.
Direct brief rehearsals prior to services performed.
§ Conduct Youth choir rehearsals. Typically this session is one hour per week during the
§ Conduct Adult choir rehearsals. Typically this session is one hour per week during the
§ Direct the adult choir at the traditional service during the school year except one Sunday
per month. Direct the youth choir on the Sunday the adult choir does not perform. Direct
brief rehearsals prior to service performed. The adult choir is not expected to sing on the
Sundays following Easter and Christmas. The choir director will make arrangements for
special music at those services.
§ Special occasions - Direct the choir(s) on Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve (two
services), and encourage the participation of the choirs in special services sponsored by
the Oswego Council of Churches.
§ Special occasions - Direct praise band on Christmas Eve, and encourage the participation
of the members in special services organized be the Oswego Council of Churches.
§ Weddings and funerals are not included in this job description, but can be negotiated.
§ Attend Worship Committee Meetings.
§ Spend several hours each week in preparation for the duties listed.
§ Strong organizational and time management skills
§ Previous choir experience
§ Solid music background
