Patricia Shanks has been teaching vocal technique and coaching singers for more than 35 years. She works with singers of all ages and levels of expertise who want to establish and maintain an effective, efficient way of singing. Other singers want to touch up their existing technique or solve problems. Patricia trains singers using traditional and contemporary teaching methods. Her clients sing opera and classical, musical theatre and other styles of music.
A member of a number of professional organizations, including the Music Teachers Association of California, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Music Teachers National Association, California Association of Professional Music Teachers, and others, Patricia stays abreast of the latest in vocal pedagogy so that she can offer the very best instruction to her students.
Patricia has sung with the former Los Angeles Music Center Opera Association, with Orange County’s Opera Pacific and with the Los Angeles Master Chorale under Roger Wagner. She was a staff section leader/soloist for the Crystal Cathedral. She has sung as a chorister with Los Angeles Premiere Chorale, Camerata of Los Angeles, Lutheran Chorale, South Coast Choral Society, Los Robles Master Chorale and others. She has directed the Moorpark College-based Amadeus Boys and Girls Choirs, Harbor Ecumenical Choir and choirs for El Segundo Recreation & Parks and El Segundo Adult Education. She has substitute conducted church choirs, and she has worked as a regular or substitute soloist for a number of churches and synagogues throughout Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura Counties.

A working voice-over talent and an active member of SAG-AFTRA and AGMA, Patricia is also a former TV Arts & Entertainment news segment host and producer and NPR jazz radio station affiliate host, and a former columnist for several editions of The Los Angeles Daily News. Presently, she is on the board of directors of the Media Alliance of Orange County.
