Andy Francis (born 1986) is an award-winning composer and percussionist. He has been a guest composer at music festivals and universities across United States, including both the Society of Composers, Inc. National and Regional Conferences, CBDNA-Southern Division Conference, Vox Novus 15 Minutes of Fame, the University of Central Missouri New Music Festival and the Ball State Festival of New Music. Awards to his credit include the 2012 Michigan State University Choral Composition Competition, the 2011 Central Michigan University Orchestral Composition Competition, the 2010 Central Michigan University Concert Band Composition Competition sponsored by Kappa Kappa Psi, the 1st Annual Ohio University Composition Contest (2009) and the 2010 Ralph Taylor Award in Composition from Marshall University.
Andy holds a Master of Music degree in composition from Central Michigan University. He holds two Bachelor of Music degrees cum laude in percussion performance and composition from Ohio University. His teachers include Jere Hutcheson, Ricardo Lorenz, David Gillingham, Mark Phillips, David Smooke and Daniel McCarthy. He is currently pursuing a DMA in composition at Michigan State University.
