I am a tenor living in Chattanooga, TN who has worked for twenty years as a professional choral singer and soloist in TN, DC, and FL. I have a Master's degree in Performance and teach at a local community college and a private boy's school. In Fall 2012, I founded Voci Virili Men's Consort, a group of male singers in the greater Chattanooga area who all had experience singing (and, in many cases, conducting) at the professional level. They were all friends of mine from my time in the choir stalls and some of them had not sung seriously in over a decade when I asked to sing again. It has been really fun and well-received and we have many opportunities to perform. The group vacillates between 12 and 20 singers based on the rep and rehearsal period. We focus primarily on sacred music from all genres but sing other TTBB classics as well. I am not a conductor per se and generally lead the ensemble from my place in the choir. As there are over a half-dozen real conductors in the choir as well, we have started treating the ensemble as something of a collective in which there may be multiple conductors rehearsing and leading different pieces in the same concert. So far, this is working out vey well.
