Location: Ohio, USA
The Schmidt Youth Vocal Competition is sponsored by the William E. Schmidt Foundation and is open to talented vocal artists who are currently high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors and who are recommended by their vocal teachers or choral directors. The goal of the competition is to encourage and nurture young people in the arts. We create a warm, inviting atmosphere in which young singers can compete to the best of their abilities. Each competition is a full and rewarding day for everyone involved.
The Schmidt Competition hosts 8-10 regional competitions at universities across the country where singers compete for over $5,000 in cash prizes at each location. The 2013-2014 season includes competitions at Miami University of Ohio (October 26), Georgia State University (November 23), University of Miami, Florida (December 14), Baylor University, Texas (January 18), Arizona State University (February 15), University of Indianapolis (May 10), Roosevelt University, Chicago (May 31), and American University in cooperation with the Washington National Opera Summer Institute (June 21).
