Rich Cook has been in the music business for over 35 years. His background includes serving as musical director, conductor and producer for television ministries, churches and schools, producing and staging concerts and large musical productions in arenas and theaters in the US and Asia.
As well as working with Disney in creating “Night of Joy” at Disneyland, he has also served on the Gospel Music Association Board of Directors in producing the Dove Awards.
Rich is an ASCAP/BMI composer of major works, individual songs and hymns with several major publishing companies, Word Entertainment, Inc., Lorenz music Inc., Brentwood-Benson Music, Manna Music, Integrity, Hosanna Music Inc., Sony Music, Warner Brothers. His music has been performed by countless churches and artists around the world.
As producer and director, he has staged concerts productions or events with celebrities; Pat Boone, Debbie Boone, Art Linkletter, Thurl Ravenscroft, Dino Kartsonikis, Andrae Crouch, Little Richard, Vestal Goodman, Graham Kerr, Tammy Faye (Bakker), Michael Feinstein, Bernadette Peters, Liza Minelli.
He has staged/conducted concerts and shows at the Singapore Indoor Stadium; Fashion Island Christmas Tree Lighting and Entertainment, Newport Beach, CA; 4th of July Spectacular, Orange, CA; Community Christmas Splendor, Anaheim Convention Center; Caruso Affiliated Holdings Entertainment Events, Thousand Oaks and Los Angeles, CA; Community Concerts at Long Beach Terrace Theater, La Mirada Civic Theater, Plummer Auditorium, Fullerton, CA, and Hollywood Bowl.
As choral music clinician at music conferences and churches, Rich has traveled throughout the US and Asia. He has led several musical group tours to Europe, Israel, Central and South America, Mexico, Canada, Asia and throughout the US.
An alumnus of Evangel University, Springfield,, MO. Rich has also studied choral conducting with Cyril McClellen, Paul Cope, Simon Carrington (of Yale), Brian O'Connell (of Boston Conservatory).
In the fall of 2001, Rich founded and is the Artistic Director of Men Alive, the Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus. The chorus has grown to over 120 singers, presenting 3 major concerts each year at the Irvine Barclay Theatre and the Orange County Performing Arts Center. The chorus performs a wide variety of choral literature from sacred, classical to pop.
Rich is also Music Director at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Laguna Hills, CA.
In collaboration with Katherine Cash, he has recently completed a 9 movement mass, “Missa Resurrexit”.
