The mission of the ACDA is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.
Rachel DeVore Fogarty's (www.racheldevorefogarty.com) critically acclaimed and awarded works have been commissioned or performed by ensembles in the U.S. and internationally, including St. Olaf's College, Oklahoma State University, the University of Kentucky, Making Waves, the Young New Yorker's Chorus Women's Ensemble, the Concert Chorale of Nashville, Schola Pacis, and the 2013 ACDA National H.S. Women's Honor Choir. She has won the 2012 Festival Singers of Atlanta Choral Competition, the NamasteWomen's Choir 2011 Choral Competition, the 2013 Six Degree Signers Young Composers Competition, and a competition for youth choral music for a festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, among others. Her works have been chosen for inclusion in Vox Reflexa's New Millenium Composers project and in the London Contemporary Church Music Festival for both 2011 and 2013. In April 2013, the Oak Ridge Symphony premiered Spoon River, her song cycle for soprano soloist with orchestra. She received both her M.M. in Composition and her B.M. in Piano from Belmont University and now resides in Long Island City, NY, with her husband, musical theatre composer Kevin Fogarty.
