Jennifer Alarcon is currently the Director of Choirs at Blalack Middle School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Previously, she served as the Director of Choirs at Rice Middle School from 2009-2012. Choirs under her direction are consistent recipients of UIL Sweepstakes awards and have been recognized as “outstanding” and “best in class” at choral festivals in the DFW area. In 2013 the Rice MS A Cappella Treble choir, under Ms. Alarcon's direction, was invited to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Convention. In 2012 the Rice MS A Cappella Tenor-Bass Choir, also under Ms. Alarcon’s direction, was invited to perform at the inaugural National Conference of Middle School Choral Music in conjunction with SWACDA and the Cambiata Institute of America.
Ms. Alarcon currently serves as the Southwest Divistion MS/JH Repertoire & Standards Chair for ACDA. Alarcon maintains memberships in TMEA, TMAA, TCDA, and ACDA.
Ms. Alarcon graduated magna cum laude from The University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in December of 2008. She remains actively involved with her alma mater, and served as the assistant director for the UNT All-State Choir Camp and assistant director and section leader for the UNT MS/JH Honor Choir Camp from 2006-2012. Ms. Alarcon is currently working towards a Master's Degree in Choral Music from Florida State University in Tallahassee. Go ‘Noles!
In addition to her work in Carrollton, Ms. Alarcon also serves as the Children’s Music Associate at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, Dallas, TX.
