Upon meeting Todd Wilson, one senses an immediate awareness of his passion to connect with others. His enthusiasm to share his love of music is contagious, a tangible energy filling the air.
Growing up in West Palm Beach, FL, Wilson's musical gifts became apparent at a very young age. Debuting as a six year old, Wilson performed with his parents and four year old sister in the Wilson Family Quartet. In addition to singing, Wilson displayed instrumental skills, playing string bass, trumpet, and acoustic guitar. His talent for choral conducting emerged in high school, evidenced as he received the coveted title of Senior Student Conductor of the Advanced Musical Chorus.
Wilson's choral conducting and leadership skills have been honed over the past four decades with a variety of different choruses in several states across the country.
In 1982, Wilson moved to Dallas, TX to join the internationally acclaimed Vocal Majority Chorus. Privileged to spend 16 years active with the chorus, for 10 of those years, Wilson served as a section leader and member of the Vocal Majority music team, celebrating six International Chorus Championships along the way.
Wilson's time in Dallas also resulted in the formation of the quartet, ACOUSTIX. That foursome won the International Quartet Championship in their very first attempt. Reflecting the zeal of its members, ACOUSTIX has performed in 47 states and ten countries, still thriving after twenty-five years. Their work is featured on six critically-acclaimed CD projects and over twenty audio and video releases.
The love of music runs deep in his family. Not only was his father the baritone in the 1961 gold medal award winning quartet, the Suntones-a group with which Todd also sang for thirteen years-Wilson's two sons have musical gifts, both instrumentally and vocally. (Wilson's championship work with the quartet ACOUSTIX earned him the distinction of first 2nd generation International Quartet Champion in the history of barbershop singing.)
And the accolades followed Wilson across the country. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Southwestern District of Barbershop Harmony Society. In Schaumburg IL, Wilson received the President's Award from the Brotherhood of Harmony Chorus. The Houston Tidelanders-- a 90 voice men's chorus which Wilson led to two Top 10 finishes in international competition-- awarded Wilson the Meritorious Service Award. The Nashville Singers made Wilson the first recipient of their Member of the Year award.
Since 2008, Wilson has provided leadership to Nashville Singers, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education. A concertgoer will note the great precision demanded by the group, appreciate the highest standards of choral excellence.
Wilson received his college education from the University of North Texas, Strayer University, and Palm Beach Community College. He has completed more than 200 hours of classroom training from the Center for Nonprofit Management.
