Scott Peterson recently retired as Director of Choral Activities at Yakima Valley Community College where he conducted the YVCC Concert Choir and the YVCC Chamber Singers for 36 years. He continutes as Chorusmaster of the Yakima Symphony Chorus and the Yakima Chamber Singers. Dr. Peterson is now an adjunct professor of Choral Studies at Central Washington University where he is teaching part-time in the graduate program and conducts the CWU Mens Ensemble. He has a BA in Music Education from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska; an MA in Choral Conducting from Central Washington University and a DMA from the University of Washington, Seattle, in Choral Conducting. He was a member of Male Ensemble Northwest (MEN) for 27 years and has served as a board member for Washingon ACDA, President of Washington ACDA; a board member for the Northwestern Division of ACDA as well as president of NW ADCA. During his tenure as president of NW ACDA, the Division held the first ACDA convention outside the borders of the United States in Vancouver, B. C., Canada. He is active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the greater Northwest region.
He is the skipper of a 30 foot Carver aft-cabin cruiser called the "Choral C" (get it?) in Portage Bay, Seattle. He is also the conductor of the Queen City Yacht Club Quire (QCYCQ).
