Brady Weldon is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education with an emphasis in choral music from Stephen F. Austin State University. During his time at SFA, Brady has had the privilege to perform as a member of the SFA Madrigal Singers and A Cappella Choir, of which he has served as choir president. With the SFA Opera Theater, Brady has performed in productions of Susannah, Die Fledermaus, La Traviata, served as Chorus Master for the 2011 and 2012 production of Amahl and the Night Visitors, and will play the role of Carl Olsen in SFA’s Spring 2013 production of Kurt Weil’s American opera, Street Scene. Brady Currently works as a Teacher’s Assistant in Musicology, and his recent research into the tradition and culture of the African American Spiritual has earned him recognition in SFA’s Annual Undergraduate Research Conference and the Spring 2012 conference of the Southwestern Division of the American Musicological Society. In addition, an abstract over this ever-developing research has been selected for publication on ChoralNet.org, the online community of the American Choral Director's Association.
As a budding choral conductor, Brady joins with numerous extraordinary musicians throughout the East Texas area as Founder and Artistic Director of the East Texas Chamber Ensemble, which is committed to presenting dynamic, evocative choral art to the East Texas community.
