Steven Albaugh is currently the head of the choral/vocal program at Rosemount High School located in Rosemount, Minnesota and President-elect of ACDA-MN.  Steven received his Master's Degree in Choral Conducting from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, and his Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.  A native Iowan in his 23rd year of teaching, he has held teaching and conducting positions in schools and churches in Center Point and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as his first Minnesota positions at Eagan High School, Eagan, Minnesota, and Shepherd of the Valley Church in Apple Valley, Minnesota.  At Rosemount High School, Steven conducts numerous curricular and co-curricular ensembles and directs the school's annual musical revue show.  The Rosemount High School Concert Choir has recently been selected to perform at St. Olaf Choral Day, the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic and the ACDA of Minnesota 2008 Fall Convention.  Under his leadership, the choral department at Rosemount High School has doubled in enrollment. 

 

Active in the American Choral Director’s Association in both Iowa and Minnesota, Steven has served as Chairperson of the Iowa Choral Director’s Association Summer Convention and on the board of ACDA of Minnesota as the Metro-East Chair.  Steven was a co-presenter at the Wisconsin Music Educator’s Association State Conference.  The session was entitled, “ Getting Them in the Door and Keeping Them in the Room; Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Male Singers in Your Choral Program.”  Besides currently serving on the ACDA of Minnesota board as the President-elect, he was also the Festival Coordinator for the 2009 Star of the North Collegiate Festival Concert Series co-sponsored by the F. Melius Christiansen Endowment Fund Committee and ACDA of Minnesota.

 

Steven serves as guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for numerous choir festivals, workshops, and competitions at various academic levels.  His professional affiliations include ACDA, MENC, and The Voice Care Network.
