He received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1989, and a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1992. Mr. McQueen practiced law in California from 1992 until moving to Colorado in 2004.
Mr. McQueen has been involved in the student travel and event business since 1995. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Student Youth Travel Association (SYTA), a nonprofit organization that promotes and provides travel experiences for students, which enhances their social, cultural, and educational growth.
In 2009, Mr. McQueen and Christopher Scott Olin (Director of Choral Music Education at the University of Oregon) co-founded Choirs of America (COA). COA’s mission is “to engage, inspire and educate choirs across the country.” Since its founding, COA has organized and directed numerous choral music education festivals and programs for thousands of students from numerous states. All of COA’s programs for choirs are affordable and significantly increase the scope and quality of choral music education for its participating choirs. COA is also on the forefront of supporting new music commissions and fostering a global appreciation for choral music.
COA is an ardent supporter of accessibility to choral music events and education for underserved communities, and has offered financial aid to choirs in many such communities, enabling underfunded choral programs to participate in COA events. COA is working hard to revolutionize and transform choral music education through its world-class events, programming and continued support of the art. Find us at www.VocalMusic.org.
