I'm a professional singer, based in Oxford and am also the Director of Music at St Edmund Hall, Oxford. I am a member of the Tallis Scholars, with whom I've done more than 400 performances, and sing with Gallicantus, Tenebrae, Collegium Vocale Gent and Theatre of Voices (among others), as well as having an active solo career under conductors like Paul McCreesh, Trevor Pinnock, Philippe Herreweghe and Paul Hillier. I've made over 100 recordings, winning several Gramophone Awards and a Grammy for the Theatre of Voices recording of David Lang's Little Match Girl Passion. I also direct a chamber choir in Oxford called Sospiri, which I founded with the composer John Duggan. I am hoping to do more and more conducting as my career continues, and am particularly (though not exclusively) interested in the liturgical music of the Anglican church, combined with a fair dollop of Catholic repertoire, which I got to know well during my 7 years as a Lay Clerk in Westminster Cathedral Choir in London.
