Lisa Mast

Location: Albania
Lisa Mast, a native of Weatherford, Oklahoma, is embarking on the new challenge of establishing the first music program at Lezha Academic Center (LAC), Lezhë, Albania.  LAC is an international affiliate member of the Mennonite Schools Council, in partnership with the Mennonite Education Agency of Mennonite Church USA.  Ms. Mast previously served as choral director for seven years in Augusta County, Virginia, with six years at Fort Defiance High School.  During her tenure, responsibilities included directing multiple choral ensembles, planning and coordinating an annual fine arts learning and performance trip for art, band, choir and drama students, and directing the annual musical theater production. 
As a soprano, Lisa has performed with choirs throughout the United States, Europe, and Cuba, more recently singing with the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Choir and the Shenandoah Valley Choral Society.  She also served on the board of directors for each organization. 
Lisa is a member of Park View Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she has served as song leader and high school youth sponsor, as well as Virginia Mennonite Conference delegate and Youth Ministry Council member.
Ms. Mast holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts: Music from Hesston College (KS) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Music, vocal concentration, PreK-12 licensure from Eastern Mennonite University (VA).  In 2008, she was honored with the Colleen Kirk Award by the American Choral Directors Association for dedication and excellence in the first three years of teaching.  She also participated, by invitation, in the Virginia Music Educators Association Leadership Symposium, a two-year mentorship program for young music educators.  Ms. Mast is passionate about the role of music in cross-cultural relationships, whole-child curriculum, and worship, with a particular interest in music’s role in Anabaptist-Mennonite congregations.  Professional memberships include the American Choral Directors Association, the International Federation for Choral Music, the National Association for Music Education, and the National Education Association.
