Encore is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to providing an excellent and accessible artistic environment for older adults, 55 and over, regardless of experience or ability, who seek arts education and performance opportunities under a professional artist.
Encore is the nation's largest and fastest growing choral program for older adults. Encore currently has twelve chorales with over 550 singers in the Washington/Baltimore area. Our partners include the Smithsonian Associate Resident Program, Goodwin House Retirement Communities, Arlington County, VA Office of Adult Programs, Potomac Academy of George Mason University, Anne Arundel Community College, Myerberg Senior Center, Baltimore, Schweinhaut Senior Center, Silver Spring, MD, Messiah Methodist in Springfield, VA, Southern Maryland at Asbury~Solomons and Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, MD. Encore also has an affiliate Encore Chorale in Hudson, Ohio Encore offers a five day Choral Institute at St. Mary's College of Maryland in June and a Choral, Dance and Theatre Institute at the famed Chautauqua Institution in New York in August, 2012, partnering with Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and Stagebridge Theatre. Encore also offers a Singing at Sea Journey aboard cruise ships, with cruises on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, QM2 and Grand Circle European River Cruises.
Encore presents about 20 free concerts yearly at high profile venues including the Kennedy Center and American Indian Museum.
There are no auditions and singers may sit or stand for performances.
