Dr. Bradley Olesen is Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at West Chester University College of  Visual and Performing Arts.   Prior to accepting this position, he was Visiting Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University, as well as a high school choral director and fine-arts administrator in Texas and Ohio.   As a student of William Westney, Ken Davis and Karl Dent, he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Piano and Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University.  He graduated from the University of Miami with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Music Education-Choral Conducting cognate with mentorship from Stephen Zdzinski, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Ed Asmus, Nicholas DeCarbo and Joyce Jordan.  Brad has worked with Alfred Mann, Rodney Eichenberger, Helmuth Rilling , Paul Salamunovich, Anton Armstrong, Vance George and Aija Schrader.  Olesen has served as soloist, adjudicator, honor choir clinician and guest conductor throughout North America and Europe.  His most recent published article can be found in the Choral Journal.  As a quantitative and philosophical researcher, Olesen will continue his line of research in choral warm-up impact, service learning and the impact on pre-service music education students, and music education advocacy.  He has recently begun a series of lectures on social dynamic theories and the American choral director.
