The Mayflower Community Chorus is the performing ensemble of the Mayflower Choral Society, a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the educational and cultural benefits of musical performance to its members, the Marin community, and the general public.

We operate two seasons during the year—Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter — with each season culminating in several professional quality shows. We work hard and have a great time performing a diverse mix of traditional, contemporary and original music.

Originating in 1977, the Mayflower Community Chorus began as the offshoot of a small group of singers who enjoyed caroling in four–part harmony at San Rafael’s popular Mayflower Inne under the direction of the late Larry Vargo. Larry became the Musical Director and patriarch of the chorus, shaping and developing its growth over 14 years until his death in December 1991. Our chorus is currently directed by the talented and dynamic, Daniel Canosa and co-directed and accompanied by the skillful and musically multifaceted David Manley.

In addition to seasonal shows, the Mayflower Community Chorus also provides vocal entertainment in a variety of musical styles for private, corporate and community events. Small ensembles and/or the full chorus can be scheduled. Performance fees support the educational and cultural programs of the Mayflower Choral Society.
