A native of Pipestone, Minnesota, Del has been the 5th grade instrumental director in the Brandon Valley School District since 1998. He has taught all levels of K-12 vocal and instrumental music in school districts in Chicago, IL, and South Dakota. Del has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocal/Instrumental Music Education from Dordt College, Sioux Center, IA, and was awarded a full-tuition scholarship for a Masters Degree in Music Education from the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University, Chicago, IL.
Currently, Del is also the Artistic Director of the international award-winning El Riad Shrine Chanters Male Chorus, Sioux Falls, SD. This male chorus has been awarded top honors at competitions in Vancouver, BC; Baltimore, MD; Denver, CO; Tampa, FL; and Minneapolis, MN; and has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Del also serves as the Artistic Director of the Singing Boys of Sioux Falls organization where he oversees the direction of the entire program and directs the auditioned Concert Choir and the expanded voices choir, Encore 2012. Del's son, Jacob, is currently in his fourth year as a member of the Singing Boys of Sioux Falls organization.
An avid church musician, Del has served parishes throughout Chicago, IL, and Brandon, SD; and is currently the Director of Traditional Music/Organist at Messiah New Hope Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD. Del was also an early childhood music educator on the staff of Kindermusik at the University of Sioux Falls for numerous years.
Del is a member of NEA, MENC, SDMEA and serves as the Sub-dean of the board for the South Dakota Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
