Location: Texas, USA
Janey Hall, Artistic Director
Janey is a long-time choral director in the public & private schools, with a degree in Music Education from Abilene Christian University. Throughout her career, she has been a pied piper of sorts for children and adults alike, with an "all things are possible" approach.
Mentors of Ms. Hall have been Dr. Jack Boyd, Choral Director of ACU; the late Glenda Casey, former ACDA President; Cynthia Nott, Artistic Director of The Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas, the late Colleen Blondeau, Voice Professor of ACU; the late Elena Nikolaidi of Houston Opera Studio; Dr. Timothy Seelig, former Artistic Director of the Dallas-based Turtle Creek Chorale, The Women's Chorus of Dallas and now Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus; Lynne Jackson, Band Director for the Richardson ISD in Richardson, Texas and Antoine Spencer of the Plano ISD in Plano, Texas.
All of these fine people have shaped the philosophy held by Ms. Hall as she has sung in and conducted choirs of all ages her entire adult life.
Ms. Hall is affiliated with TCDA, and her Concert Chorus of Apollo Jr. High in Richardson, Texas was selected to perform for the annual TMEA Convention in San Antonio in 1999. She is a published composer of "There Is A Season" (Shawnee Music Press) and a charter member of The Women's Chorus of Dallas, having served as section leader and on their board. TWCD also recorded "There Is A Season", conducted by Ms. Hall, and an unpublished song, "Erin's Song", on CDs 'American Rhapsody' and 'Lullaby', respectively.
She is a singer's singer, having been selected to sing in the Texas All~State Chorus 3 years in a row. She enjoyed her Abilene Opera Association debut in 1986, her Carnegie Hall debut in 1993, Dallas Opera debut in 1995 and her European solo debut (with The Turtle Creek Chorale) also in 1995. She was also selected to sing in the chorus of Leonard Bernstein's World Premier of "A Quiet Place" presented by Houston Grand Opera.
Classically trained, but also a lover of lighter genres, Ms. Hall released a solo CD called "Last Call", as well as co~founder of the jazz quartet, 2x2, who released their first CD, "Moonlighting".
Ms. Hall brings a wealth of experience as the Artistic Director for The SoCo Women's Chorus of Austin!
