Sandi Billy

Sandi BillySandra Billy is director of the Center for Sacred Music at Virginia Wesleyan College where she oversees a comprehensive program of instruction for students preparing for careers in church music ministry as well as continuing education opportunities for those who are already active in the profession. Teaching responsibilities include Sacred Music History, Choral Literature and Hymnology, as well as the Business of Music. She earned degrees from Old Dominion University and LaSalle University, as well as the Church Music Certificate from Virginia Wesleyan College, the Music Specialist Certificate from the Berklee College of Music, and has continued studies at Wesley Theological Seminary. Billy has served in church music ministry for more than 28 years as music director and organist and her articles on choir management and participatory worship have been published in numerous journals. Her work in developing new music for worship has led to the development of the Virginia Wesleyan College Anthem Series with Hinshaw Publishers, the Virginia Wesleyan College Children's Anthem Series with Choristers Guild, and the Music from American Colleges and Universities series with MorningStar Publishers. In addition to her work with the Center, she is also Artistic Director of the Virginia Wesleyan College Concert Series.
