W. Ian Walker

W. Ian Walker, from Hamilton, Ontario. is an an accomplished baritone soloist, chorister, Choral Conductor and Arts Consultant, dealing with arts clients in public relations, marketing and fundraising in the greater Toronto area, with his own agency Emlian Communications Group Inc. He has sung in choirs for over 40 years and has been in Arts Administration for over 30 years. Mr. Walker was Director of Marketing and Communications for the Orpheus Choir of Toronto and chorister for eight years from 2002 until 2010.
Mr. Walker has written his own autobiography "Stirring My Soul to Sing, Overcoming Obstacles of ADHD" sharing experiencing of his own vocal and choral arts career, working with some of the finest choral musicians, John Rutter, Sir David Willcocks and mentored by Robert Cooper, C.M.; these connections and arts management opportunities aided Ian to survive his ADHD. Vocal and Choral music were his survival techniques combined later opportunities to develop a career in Arts, Media and Fundraising Management.
Mr. Walker is also an alumnus of the Class of 1981, The Young Artist Vocal Program of Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI)and liaised with other classical musicians on the Tanglewood grounds during that "magical summer".
From his book, Mr. Walker shares stories and experiences about his many years of vocal, choral and opera studies with my long-lasting friendship with Adrianne Pieczonka, Canadian and International Soprano and others being a part of the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Music Singers, under the direction of the late Professor Deral Johnson. He also special memories about his arts management career, working with Canadian and International icon, the late Maureen Forester, C.C. and his friendship with Canada’s veteran founder, producer and choral entrepreneur,the late Nicholas Goldschmidt, C.C.
In 2005, Ian became Founder and Music Director for his own ensemble The Youth Choir for the Nations developing it into a non-profit organization. This Christian Choir is made up of youth, from India and Pakistan and other countries. The Choir sings in Urdu, English, French and Spanish. In 2012..the ensemble will soon be expanding into the Greater Toronto Area, representing Catch The Fire Ministries.
